Looks Like Somebody Talked Some Sense Into the Kid.
Written by Paul Barton on June 17th, 2008 | 1 CommentKyle Busch is not my favorite driver by no stretch. He is a Gibbs river though and as I die-hard JGR fan what’s good for the coach is good for me. So I have been biting the bullet and rooting for Kyle to succeed in the 18 car that has been struggling for so long. He has righted the ship and got some wins and is leading in the Sprint Cup points chase. As elequently as my brother, Andy, has stated in his blogs and on the show he is not a fan of his either. His is definately not a fan of him trying to win every race in every series on every weekend. Well his wish has come true. Kyle is abandoning his quest to win the Sprint Cup and Natinwide series championships.
In a NASCAR.COM article Kyle Busch said:
He has four wins so far, he is the points leader, he has 10 top tens,
and he is now going just going to have fun and try to win races? Well my first thought is the rest of the field should watch out, my second thought is can he control himself. He is not exactly a calming influence when he is on the track and that is what rubs a lot of people the wrong way, even me. But I think he has two very strong factors working in his favor, Joe Gibbs and Tony Stewart. If you don’t think the coach doesn’t know what t takes to win a championship, just google him and start reading. Tony has two Sprint Cup chmpionships under his belt and has been through the wringer a couple of times. During the 2002 season he finished dead last in the Daytona 500. Found his motivation and started winning. Then came the distractions. He had a talk with the coach and came out focused after a mid-season slump and won the title.
Experience is something that is immeasureable in sports, it is a factor around every corner, during every at bat, at every free throw, and every shot in a major golf tournament. Kyle has some, but JGR has tons of it. If he can focus on the title, have fun, and learn from the team, he will probably have a nice big trophy in his den this winter.

As much as I hate to admit it I think you are right. Kyle taking the pressure off of himself will probably get him where he wants to go. Then again some guys perform better under self induced pressures.
