Tony Exploring Options. What Will I Do If He Goes?
Written by paul on April 25th, 2008 | 0 CommentsAs a die-hard Tony Stewart fan, his possibly leaving the 20 was brought to my attention by pretty much everybody who knows that. Tony is not leaving JGR at this time, he is listenign to offers and weighing his options, at this point. I don’t think it is a sign of the inevitable end of his NASCAR career, if anything it is showing us what his goals are for the future. His desire to be a team owner is not news to me. Some of the offers are bigger than I thought they would be, at least whqt they are saying. I don’t think anything drastic will happen before the end of this season but all bets are off after Homestead. Continue reading...
IRL: Gaining Momentum! NASCAR: Shark Jumping?
Written by paul on April 23rd, 2008 | 0 CommentsIs the worm turning? Admittedly the IRL has had it’s biggest week in a long, long, long time. They are riding the wave of first the newest Rahal to win and then Danica Patrick’s victory on Sunday and now they have more teams committing to attempt to run the Indy 500. So far, they have managed to let the tide rise without trying to force it into any direction. The fact that it happened on the off week of NASCAR, allowed them to possibly grab back the fan base that NASCAR is actively pursuing. Continue reading...
Cross Danica Off The List
Written by paul on April 21st, 2008 | 1 CommentNo longer will Danica Patrick be associated with Ana Kournikova and Michelle Wie, although I don’t know if Wie deserves to be included on this list of female athletes that are know for their looks and no their performance. Whether you think it is fair to see it that wayor not, that is the way it is. I look at it as more of the “Bang to Hype” ratio. The lead up to the events in which these women participated in far outweighed their performance. The media machine has a lot to do with it, if not everything, in Kournakova’s and Wie’s case. Danica had something different, the drive (no pun intended) to win. Continue reading...
Tires, Again?!
Written by paul on April 17th, 2008 | 0 CommentsI think we are all familiar with the ranting about the tires used in the Atlanta race and that it created a PR nightmare for Goodyear (If not check my previous posts). Well, I promise I won’t go down that road again. In an attempt to figure put what the heck is going on in the world of NASCAR for you reading edification I stumbled across a possible explanation of the poor racing so far this season. It is the idea that the tires are the reason that the racing has been lackluster so far. Travis Geisler, a race engineer with the #12 Alltel Dodge, has wrote in interesting post while filling in for Ryan Newman on Yahoo Sports. Continue reading...
NASCAR Drivers “Prelude To a Dream”, Making Dreams Come True
Written by paul on April 15th, 2008 | 0 CommentsI briefly mentioned on our last episode of “From the Hauler to the Track”, that NASCAR has some of the best charitable events around. The drivers are made available almost all the time and they do the charity work themselves. They have foundations and NASCAR Day is coming up soon. Continue reading...
NASCAR Got It Right
Written by paul on April 7th, 2008 | 0 CommentsIf you have read some of my earlier stuff, you may get the impression that I am not to happy with the new car. I understood their wanting to emphasize safety, and keeping the costs down, and standardization and all that. I just had the feeling of being forced to like something I really wasn’t ready to accept. That being said, at this time i would like to officially take all the bad stuff I said and do a 180. I like the car. It has provided good racing so far. The problem there is the emphasis on points and not winning, but that has nothing to do with the car. This is the proof that all the safety precautions that they have implemented have paid of: Michael McDowell qualifying at Texas Continue reading...
What It’s Like Around a NASCAR Event
Written by paul on April 4th, 2008 | 0 CommentsWow, what a deluge of NASCAR stuff. For a fan it is great but I wonder what a regular guy might think of all this. To let you in on what it is like here’s a few things I noticed yesterday. Continue reading...
